the brides 

ahh the last project of my college career!

I started the semester knowing I wanted to create a children's book but wanted to visit a local school for inspiration. The classes I was able to work with were a lot of fun! I brought found objects into the class and had the student draw characters from them. It was really interesting seeing how each first grader created such different things from the same object. From that experience I decided I wanted my thesis to focus on cupcakes. I decided to make a twenty-four page book, and from those I chose three to take to final using felt and thread.

Now how did the brides come about?

Wellllll the brides were created when I could no longer stand baked goods :) They were a wonderful relaxing sub-thesis.

Ringling has been a great season full of learning, discovering, and amazing individuals. I couldn't have found a more beautiful group of friends anywhere in the world.

I know the future holds great adventures for us all

two birdies for the price of one

 

 

I made this plushie a week or so ago to send to my dear friend Stanley. First I made the girl side but didn't feel like making a side identical to it so I decided to make the other side a boy bird :)

It was a lot of fun to make, I think I'll explore making more things with felt.

the latests happenings

 

These are a few hearts I made for a piece I did in my social art class. I made a bunch of hearts and handed them out one by one in a brown bag with a postcard. The instructions were for that person to give the heart away to someone and then fill out the postcard which asked "who did you give your heart to? why?" and mail it to me/put it in my mailbox.

 

This is my last illustration project. It's for my brother :) I wanted to give it to him in person... but I don't think I can wait that long (!!!) sooo... I'm going to be creative and figure something else out. The colors are a little off and there are a few things I need to tweak, but here it is currently.

These oct-o-pie friends are something I'm currently working on for class,  I'll have more about them posted later :)

I had fun making them, I think I will continue to explore the world of plushie making :)
